I offer conscious parenting and conscious teaching workshops in schools for parents and teachers. I have been hired by a school district to teach conscious parenting classes on an ongoing basis. I do believe conscious parenting is the alchemic catalyst to heal the planet from the group up. That is why spreading the messages of conscious parenting has been my mission, vision, and passion for the past several years. Dr. Shefali Tsabary, the founder of conscious parenting and Oprah’s favorite parenting expert, whom I am blissfully endorsed by, defines the conscious parent this way. A conscious parent is not one who seeks to fix her child or seek to produce or create the ‘perfect’ child. The conscious parent understands this child has been called forth to ‘raise the parent’ itself.
With this definition in mind, when we take on the role of a conscious parent, we step away from short-term solutions such as yelling, abandoning, shaming, and the punishment and reward system to manipulate our child. Instead, we move towards focusing on creating meaningful connections with our children on a moment-to-moment basis, so they can gracefully grow into their authentic Self rather than reacting to our unconsciousness. As a result of attending the conscious parenting workshop in your school, parents will:
- Understand the underlying reasons for your kids’ behavior and your triggers
- Learn practical tools to stop yelling, begging, and forcing them to listen
- Build a strong relationship with your kids on a deep level
- Empower them to become self-driven, fulfilled, and responsible adults
- Learn mindfulness tools and techniques
- Parent from the place of compassion and harmony instead of power struggle, reactivity, and fear
The conscious teaching workshop flourished from giving many conscious parenting classes and workshops. As I was offering these workshops in schools and taught classes in our school district on an ongoing basis, I gradually thought the material is too valuable to be hidden from the eyes of the teachers. My son’s struggle with the punishment and reward system in school was a great catalyst for this workshop to burgeon. As a result of this workshop, teachers will:
- Know the difference between traditional, behavioristic, and conscious teaching
- Learn personal and classroom mindfulness tools to foster awareness and dismantle fight-or-flight system in the moment
- Participate in an exercise to discover underlying reasons behind emotional triggers
- Learn the emotional intelligence concept and tools
- Understand behavior is a form of communication
- Understand the underlying reasons for “negative behavior”
- Review tools to get students’ cooperation besides the punishment/reward system
- Learn the rules of how to have effective and respectful rules in the classroom as the last resort
